I am Dr. Krisztina Varga-Heier, mother of two sons and two daughters.
In 2010, I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Semmelweis University. Shortly afterwards, my first son was born, and two years later my second. Their arrival and upbringing raised new questions I had never encountered before. My attention shifted to everything related to breastfeeding, parenting, and family life.
Before the birth of my first child, I never imagined that breastfeeding could cause problems. When I was confronted with this, I was very surprised. Fortunately, despite some small challenges, I was able to successfully breastfeed all four of my children. Still, it was painful to see that while breastfeeding meant so much to me and my children, for others it often brought difficulties, pain, and frustration. I wanted to help, but knew that my own experience was not enough. That is why I started the lactation consultant training at Semmelweis University.
In 2015, I successfully passed the IBCLC exam and became an internationally recognized lactation consultant. For many years, I had a private practice in and around Budapest. Between 2018 and 2022, I was vice president of the Hungarian Association for Breastfeeding. I never let go of my medical career, and in 2025 I completed my specialization as a general practitioner.
Today, I live in the Netherlands with my family, where I want to support families in making breastfeeding as positive an experience as possible – for both mother and baby.
I offer personal home visits by appointment, in Utrecht and the surrounding area.
If you are experiencing breastfeeding problems, please feel free to send me an email describing your situation and questions. I am happy to think along with you. Don’t hesitate to get in touch! 🙂
